NSTB Rules and Regulations

The Event

The local communities on the route have welcomed this event and have been pivotal in making sure this event is a success. Please repay that hospitality and ensure that you are polite and show respect to pedestrians, other road users and those living and working in the local communities on the route and surrounding area.  Please do not drop litter.

 

Categories

There will be no specific age category related results. Results will be based upon the team size and mix.

Riders must be aged 16 years or over to participate. (Born before 20th June 1998)

Prizes will be allocated to the following categories

               Solo Female 1st, 2nd and 3rd Overall

               Solo Male 1st 2nd and 3rd Overall

               Pair Male Team 1st, 2nd and 3rd Overall

               Pair Female Team 1st, 2nd and 3rd Overall

               Pair Mix Team 1st, 2nd and 3rd Overall

               Quad Male 1st, 2nd and 3rd Overall

               Quad Female 1st, 2nd and 3rd Overall

               Quad Mix Team 1st, 2nd and 3rd Overall

               Overall Prize for the fastest lap of the entire event.

Riders who finish in the top three in their category are expected, where possible, to attend the podium presentation.

Podiums and prize presentation will be at 10am on Sunday 21st June 2015

Bike and personal equipment

All bikes must have bar plugs and be in perfect working order.

Triathlon and aero bars are not allowed in this event.

Highland Perthshire Cycling have the right to deny entry to the event if they feel a bike is not of a suitable standard.

Riders must wear a certified helmet at all times sections. Riders found not wearing a helmet may be disqualified.

Each competitor should be completely self-sufficient. It is recommended that each rider carries the following items as a minimum:

Mobile phone. An emergency contact number will be provided at registration.

Basic first aid kit(Minimum: 1 x Dressing Pad for heavy bleeding (field dressing); bandage, plasters).

Wind/Waterproof top.

Bike repair kit(tube, tyre leavers, pump or CO2 canisters, allen keys, chain tool).

Whistle: in case of emergency to alert attention.

Sufficient food and water:to meet your individual energy needs for up to 12 hours of riding.

Sunscreen and insect repellent

Course Hazards

The course will be run on open roads and riders MUST adhere to the Highway Code at all times. At least two thirds of the course is on single-track roads. Riders must be aware of all approaching traffic and ride in a safe manner. When on single-track roads riders must use passing places where available and, when it is safe to do so, allow faster moving traffic to pass from behind. The roads used are in remote locations and potholes, rocks, gravel, rutted sections, steep descents, and drop-offs at the edge of the road are all part of what is required to be negotiated by the competitor. When you are in this environment YOU are the person primarily responsible for your own safety. Any hazards outside of those expected will be identified and marked accordingly to ensure your safety.

It is the duty of each competitor to assist any other competitor who appears to be injured or in difficulty and to possibly alert the race organiser. 

The Course

No Sleep Till Breakfast will be held on a 30.4 mile/ 48.8km  lap. Each lap will include 2215ft of height gain and climb to a maximum gradient of 1830ft/ 561m. There are two categorised climbs on the route. 

All riders must follow the marked course and obey warning and safety signs. In the interest of safety there will be a cut off time to complete the last lap. Riders are expected to have started their last lap no later than 7.59am on the 21st June 2015 and have completed by 9.30am on the 21st June. Riders will be notified of this at the race briefing on the morning of the event.

The course will be marked with signs and tape where appropriate.  Riders must ensure they are familiar with the route before riding. .

Marshals and medical support will only be on the course between 8pm on Saturday 20th June and 9.30am on Sunday 21st June 2015. Any rider who rides the course outside this time does so entirely at their own risk. There will be three support points on the course.

Highland Perthshire Cycling reserve the right to make any changes to the course. If this happens all competitors will be made fully aware of these changes prior to starting the event.

Riders should and should not

·         Not leave any rubbish along the route. ALL food wrappers, drink bottles, tubes etc must please be carried to the finish line and not discarded anywhere along the route. Anyone seen discarding rubbish will be disqualified and will not receive a time or position as applicable.

·         Riders should not modify race number plates.

·         Competitors should read the pre-race course briefing notes supplied at registration.

·         Competitors should obey instructions from Marshals at all times. They are there for everyone’s safety and enjoyment. 

·         Riders should respect marshals and other race officials and helpers. They are volunteers and have given up their time so you can race. They are not there to take any abuse of any kind. If you have a complaint or grievance in regard to this event then you should address it to the race director.

·         Any Rider withdrawing from the event should notify the race office as soon as possible.

·         Every competitor should adapt his/her speed and his/her behaviour to his/her personal abilities, his/her equipment and to the general conditions the event is raced in.

·         Each Rider authorises the use of any images or videos taken during the event he/she may be appearing in.

Registration

Registration for all events will open as directed on this website.

On registering, each Rider agrees to the rules of the event.

Entry for No Sleep Till Breakfast closes on the 12th June 2015 at 23.59pm, or when the maximum entry of 300 riders has been reached.

Entries are non-refundable less than two weeks from the event. If you are unable to compete for medical reasons we will refund you on receipt of a doctor’s note. It is also not possible to transfer entries to any other events, next year’s event, or a different Rider.

Registration and payment will be made online.

Registration and payment is subject to third-party booking fees.

For the registration the Rider will have to inform an on-line form concerning his names, first names, age, gender and address.

The registration will be validated only after the payment of the fees on the registration website.

Timing

Provisional results will be posted as soon as possible after the event.  Any queries must be expressed by e-mail by 12noon on the Monday following the event.

Timing will be conducted by SportIdent.

You are responsible for your timing chip and for dibbing in and out of stages.  Please look after these - lost or broken timing chips will cost you £25 to replace.

Responsibilities of Riders

Highland Perthshire Cycling shall not be held liable in any way for any loss, damage or accidents that may occur during any of the events. Riders are aware that cycling is potentially dangerous.

Penalties and complaints:

No external assistance is permitted on the course, assistance is only allowed in the car-park area.

Any complaints about the race should be done formally to the race office within 15 minutes of the end of the Rider’s race.

Any complaints about the results should be done formally to the race office within 24hrs of result's publication.

Any dangerous or disrespectful behaviour against other racers, marshals, nature, those in the local community or spectators will lead to a time penalty depending of the level of the fault. Race director can also decide to disqualify the Rider.
